The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Slip or no 2nd, 3rd or 4th Gear. Inspection of the transmission may show distress of the 3-4 clutch (654) and / or the 2-4 band (602). The front and/or rear stator support bushings (234, 241) and the turbine shaft oil seal rings (619) may be worn or damaged. Also the turbine shaft may be worn or damaged where the sealing rings are located.

Important Note: This will only apply to vehicles built in January, February or March, 2007 with a Ramos built transmission.

Recommendation/Instructions:

These conditions may be caused by rough surface finish on the turbine shaft (621) stator shaft support bushing journals. Inspect the stator support bushings (234, 241) and the inner sleeve of the pump cover (215) for wear and replace as required. When making repairs to a transmission from this population with these symptoms the input housing with turbine shaft (621) should also be replaced.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
