THE CAB FLOOR IS CRACKED IN THE AREA AROUND THE SPOT WELDS OF THE FLOOR PAN SEAT ANCHOR REINFORCEMENT.
REPLACE EXISTING REINFORCEMENT AND WELD FLOOR CRACKS.
1. DISCONNECT SEAT ELECTRICAL HARNESS. 2. REMOVE SEAT. 3. REMOVE FRONT SILL PLATE AND KICK PANEL. 4. REMOVE LOWER SEAT BELT ANCHOR BOLT AND REPOSITION BELT FOR WELDING CLEARANCE. 5. ROLL CARPET/PADDING BACK FOR WELDING CLEARANCE. 6. PROTECT AREA WITH WELDING BLANKETS (INCLUDE UNDERSIDE OF STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN). 7. DRILL 1/8" (3MM) HOLE AT END OF EACH FRACTURE. 8. DRILL OUT EXISTING SPOT WELDS USING 5/16" (8MM) DRILL BIT. 9. DRILL 5/16" (8MM) HOLES FOR NEW PLUG WELD LOCATIONS IF NECESSARY. SEE FIGURE 1 FOR RECOMMENDED SPACING. 10. GRIND AND PREP AREA FOR WELDING. 11. RAISE VEHICLE TO ACCESS UNDERBODY. 12. USE HAMMER AND CHISEL TO REMOVE REINFORCEMENT. DISCARD REINFORCEMENT. 13. USE HAMMER AND DOLLY TO FLATTEN AREA TO BE WELDED. 14. GRIND AND PREP UNDERBODY AREA TO BE WELDED. NOTICE: AREA SHOULD BE FREE OF DIRT AND CONTAMINATION TO 1/2" BEYOND PERIMETER OF REINFORCEMENT. 15. SHIELD FUEL TANK. 16. APPLY PRIMER TO REINFORCEMENT AND REINFORCEMENT LOCATION ON UNDERBODY. 17. POSITION REINFORCEMENT WITH A NUT TO HOLD IN PLACE. 18. FROM INSIDE VEHICLE, REMOVE PRIMER FROM AREA TO BE PLUG WELDED USING A SPOT BLASTER POSITIONED OVER DRILLED HOLES. 19. PLUG WELD LOCATIONS 1 AND 3 (FIGURE 1) AS PER AWS (AMERICAN WELDING SOCIETY) STANDARDS. 20. REMOVE NUT USED FOR POSITIONING REINFORCEMENT. 21. PLUG WELD LOCATIONS 2 AND 4 AS PER AWS STANDARDS. 22. WELD EACH FRACTURE IN FLOOR PAN (IF PRESENT) USING GMAW (GAS METAL ARC WELD) OR GTAW (GAS TUNGSTEN ARC WELD) TECHNIQUES. 23. SAND BLAST INTERIOR WELD SURFACE TO ENSURE PRIMER ADHESION. 24. USING A BRUSH, APPLY TWO (2) COATS OF EPOXY PRIMER TO INTERIOR AND UNDERBODY SURFACES. 25. APPLY SEAM SEALER AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE REINFORCEMENT ON THE UNDERBODY. 26. INSTALL CARPET. 27. INSTALL FRONT SILL PLATE AND KICK PANEL. 28. INSTALL SEAT BELT AND SEAT BELT ANCHOR BOLT. TORQUE TO 70 +/- 10 NM (52 +/- 7 LB FT). NOTICE: SEAT BELT ANCHOR BOLT TO BE FULLY DRIVEN, SEATED AND NOT STRIPPED. 29. INSTALL SEAT. TORQUE SEAT ANCHOR BOLTS TO 45 +/- 7 NM (33 +/- 5 LB FT). 30. CONNECT SEAT ELECTRICAL HARNESS WHERE REQUIRED.
