For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Remove the fuel pump relay.
  2. Start and run the engine until the fuel supply remaining in the fuel pipes is consumed. Engage the starter for 3.0 seconds in order to assure relief of any remaining pressure.
  3. Install the fuel pump relay.
  4. Disconnect the negative battery cable in order to avoid possible fuel discharge if an accidental attempt is made to start the engine.

Reset Procedure

  1. Disconnect battery terminal for 10 seconds. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Reconnect the terminal.
  3. Turn the ignition ON leaving the engine OFF for 5 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
