Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 281181 Size: SH
  1. Install the condenser.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the upper insulator retainers and the insulator retainer bolts.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 2.4 N·m (21 lb in).

  5. Install the evaporator tube to the condenser.
  6. Install the compressor and condenser hose assembly to the condenser. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement or Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement (4.3L) .
  7. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  8. Install the lower radiator hose. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  9. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  10. Install the upper radiator hose. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  11. Install the air inlet assembly. Refer to Air Inlet Assembly Replacement in Heater and Ventilation.
  12. Connect the PCV hose to the air cleaner.
  13. Connect the electrical connector to the air inlet duct.
  14. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  15. Add refrigerant to the system.
  16. Inspect the system for leaks.
