Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 61943  Size: SH
  1. Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  3. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
  4. Remove the fuel sender assembly. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement .
  5. Remove the fuel level sensor electrical connectors from the fuel sender assembly.
  6. Remove the fuel level sensor (1) from fuel sender assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 61943  Size: SH
  1. Install the fuel level sensor to the modular fuel sender.
  2. Install the fuel level sensor electrical connectors to the fuel sender assembly.
  3. Install the fuel sender assembly. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement .
  4. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
  5. Refill the fuel tank.
  6. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8. Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps:
  9. 7.1. Turn the ignition to the ON position for two seconds.
    7.2. Turn the ignition to the OFF position for ten seconds.
    7.3. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
    7.4. Check for fuel leaks.
