Cleaning and Inspection Procedure
- Inspect the bearing race bore for the following conditions:
• | Replace the front housing if the countershaft bearing race bore is worn
or damaged. |
- Inspect the bushings for the following conditions:
• | Evidence of overheating |
- Inspect the housing for the following conditions:
• | Replace the housing if it is cracked. |
• | Damaged threads in the threaded opening |
• | Nicks in the mounting facing |
- Use a straight edge in order to inspect the machined mating surfaces
for flatness.
- Use a soft stone or a crocus cloth in order to remove scratches,
grooves or scores from the components. If these conditions cannot be removed,
replace the component.
- Clean up any damaged threads with the correct size tap.
