Cleaning and Inspection Procedure

  1. Inspect the bearing race bore for the following conditions:
  2. • Wear
    • Scratches
    • Grooves
    • Replace the front housing if the countershaft bearing race bore is worn or damaged.
  3. Inspect the bushings for the following conditions:
  4. • Scores
    • Burrs
    • Roundness
    • Evidence of overheating
  5. Inspect the housing for the following conditions:
  6. • Cracks
    • Replace the housing if it is cracked.
    • Damaged threads in the threaded opening
    • Nicks in the mounting facing
    • Burrs
    • Scratches
  7. Use a straight edge in order to inspect the machined mating surfaces for flatness.
  8. Use a soft stone or a crocus cloth in order to remove scratches, grooves or scores from the components. If these conditions cannot be removed, replace the component.
  9. Clean up any damaged threads with the correct size tap.
