Removal Procedure

Notice: Do not attempt to straighten any kinked nylon fuel lines. Replace any kinked nylon fuel feed or return pipes in order to prevent damage to the vehicle.

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to

    Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

  3. Disconnect the fuel feed and return pipes from the fuel filter/regulator assembly. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  4. Remove the transmission.

  6. Disconnect the fuel feed and fuel rail pipe from the fuel composition sensor assembly. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  7. Remove the fuel pipe assembly.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Do not attempt to straighten any kinked nylon fuel lines. Replace any kinked nylon fuel feed or return pipes in order to prevent damage to the vehicle.

Notice: Always re-attach the fuel lines and fuel filter with all original type fasteners and hardware.

Do not repair sections of fuel pipes.

  1. Install the fuel pipe assembly.
  2. Connect the fuel feed and fuel rail pipe to the fuel composition sensor assembly. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  3. Connect the fuel feed and return pipes to the fuel filter/regulator assembly. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  4. Install the transmission.
  5. • Refer to Transmission Replacement .

  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps:
  8. 6.1. Turn ON the ignition for two seconds.
    6.2. Turn OFF the ignition for ten seconds.
    6.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    6.4. Check for fuel leaks.
