Diagnostic Aids

Inspect the clutch pedal for a loose or worn clutch pedal spring. If the clutch pedal stays to the floor you should check the master cylinder for improper fluid level or faulty parts. Also inspect the hydraulic hoses or pipes for damage or even leaks. Inspect the clutch diaphragm springs to see if they are broken.

Test Description

  1. This step explains there parts and the operation of the clutch system.

  2. This step inspects the hydraulic lines for kinks, dents or other damage.

  3. This step inspects for the correct fluid level in the reservoir.

  4. This step inspects for a faulty release bearing.

  5. This step inspects for a worn or damage diaphragm spring.

Inspect the reservoir for fluid.

Is there fluid in the reservoir?

  2. Inspect the concentric slave cylinder for binding.

Is there binding on the concentric slave cylinder?

Replace the clutch release bearing. Refer to Clutch Concentric Actuator Cylinder Replacement .

Did you find and repair the condition?

Inspect the clutch diaphragm spring.

Are the diaphragm springs weak or broken?

  1. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission - NV1500.
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
