Rear Bumper Bracket Replacement Utility

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear bumper impact bar. Refer to Rear Bumper Impact Bar Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 609628  Size: SH
  3. Remove 4 nuts and 2 stud plate assemblies securing the rear bumper bracket to each frame rail.
  4. Remove the rear bumper bracket from the frame rail.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 609628  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the rear bumper bracket to each frame rail with 4 nuts and 2 stud plate assemblies.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the rear bumper bracket nuts to 90 N·m (66.4 lb ft).

  3. Install the rear bumper impact bar. Refer to Rear Bumper Impact Bar Replacement .

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 594041  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear bumper impact bar. Refer to Rear Bumper Impact Bar Replacement .
  2. Remove the bolt securing the rear step brace to the rear bumper bracket, if equipped.
  3. Remove 3 nuts and bolts securing the rear bumper bracket to each frame rail.
  4. Remove the rear bumper bracket from the frame rail.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   1. Install the rear bumper bracket to each frame rail with 3 nuts and bolts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the rear bumper bracket bolts to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).

  3. Install the bolt securing the rear step brace to the rear bumper bracket, if equipped.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear step brace bolt to 9 N·m (7 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear bumper impact bar. Refer to Rear Bumper Impact Bar Replacement .
