Schematic Reference: Power Seats Schematics

DEFINITION: This table assumes that all mechanical linkage and drivers are free from obstruction and not binding. This also assumes that all other directions are operational.

Did you perform the Power Seat System Diagnostic System Check?

Operate the power seat in the recline position.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Disconnect the recliner motor.
2. Connect a test lamp between the power seat motor - recline fore control circuit and a good ground.
3. Operate the power seat in the forward recline direction.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

1. Connect a test lamp between the power seat motor - recline aft control circuit and a good ground.
2. Operate the power seat in the rearward recline direction.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

1. Connect a test lamp between the power seat motor - recline forward and aft control circuits.
2. Operate the power seat in the forward and rearward recline directions.

Did the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 8

Test the power seat motor - recline fore control circuit for an open or short to ground . Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Test the power seat motor - recline aft control circuit for an open or short to ground . Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the power seat switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the recliner motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the recliner motor. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?
