Endgate Bumper Replacement Pickup
Removal Procedure
- Open the endgate.
- Perform the following steps in order to remove
the pickup box endgate bumper from the vehicle:
2.1. | Grip the endgate bumper. |
2.2. | Pull out the endgate bumper in order to release the retainers. |
Installation Procedure
- Insert a blunt object into the recessed areas
of the bumper.
- Press the blunt object forward in order to seat the retainers.

Removal Procedure
Important: Do not remove both liftgate side bumper bolts at the same time. This
will cause the backing plate to fall into the body, resulting in additional
time to perform the repair.
- Remove the lower side bumper bolt.
- Loosen the upper side bumper bolt in order to rotate the side
bumper and spacer (if equipped) away from the lower side bumper bolt hole.
- Install the lower side bumper bolt.
- Tighten the bolt in order to hold the backing place in place.
- Remove the upper side bumper bolt.
- Remove the spacer (if equipped).
- Remove the side bumper.
Installation Procedure
- Install the side bumper.
- Install the spacer (if equipped).
- Install the upper side bumper bolt.
- Rotate the lower side bumper bolt until the threaded hole is properly
aligned.
- Remove the lower side bumper bolt.
- Rotate the side bumper and spacer (if equipped) in order to align
the threaded hole in the backing plate.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the lower
side bumper bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
