Removal Procedure
- Remove the handle from
the handle assembly. Refer to
Rear Door Inside Handle Replacement
.
Remove the endgate trim panel. Refer to
Endgate Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the endgate bellcrank rod from the endgate inside handle
assembly.
- Remove the screws that retain the endgate cover to the endgate.
- Remove the endgate cover from the endgate.
- Release the endgate latch rods from the latch rod clips.
- Drill out the rivets that
secure the handle assembly to the endgate.
- Remove the handle from the endgate cover.
Installation Procedure
- Install the inside handle
assembly to the endgate cover using 2 rivets.
- Install the endgate bellcrank
rod to the endgate inside handle assembly.
- Secure the endgate latch rods to the latch rod clips.
- Install the endgate cover to the endgate.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws
that retain the endgate cover to the endgate.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.2 N·m (11 lb in).
- Install the endgate trim panel. Refer to
Endgate Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Install the handle to the inside handle assembly. Refer to
Rear Door Inside Handle Replacement
.
