Removal Procedure

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

  3. Raise the vehicle.

  5. Disconnect the secondary air injection (AIR) pump inlet and outlet hoses.
  6. Remove the AIR pump solenoid (5) from the AIR pump (4).
  7. Disconnect the AIR pump electrical connector (2) from the AIR pump.
  8. Remove the AIR pump attaching bolts.
  9. Remove the AIR pump (4) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the AIR pump (4) and attaching bolts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt and nut to 17 N·m (12.5 lb ft).

  3. Connect the AIR pump electrical connector (2) to the AIR pump (4).
  4. Install the AIR pump solenoid (5) to the AIR pump (4).
  5. Connect the AIR pump inlet and outlet hoses to the AIR pump (4).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
