Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation J Car


    Object Number: 182912  Size: SH
  1. Clean the sealing surfaces where the cylinder head and the rocker arm cover meet. Use a suitable cleaning solvent.
  2. Inspect the sealing flanges of the rocker arm cover for distortion.
  3. Install the new rocker arm cover gasket in the groove around the rocker arm cover.

  4. Object Number: 175511  Size: SH
  5. Install the rocker arm cover to the cylinder head.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the rocker arm cover bolts in sequence (1-8).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the rocker arm cover bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the radiator outlet pipe.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the radiator pipe bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  1. Clean the sealing surfaces where the cylinder head and the rocker arm cover meet. Use a suitable cleaning solvent.
  2. Inspect the sealing flanges of the rocker arm cover for distortion.
  3. Install the new rocker arm cover gasket in the groove around the rocker arm cover.
  4. Install the rocker arm cover to the cylinder head.
  5. Install the rocker arm cover bolts, stud (1) and bracket (2).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   9. Install the water outlet adapter.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the water outlet adapter bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
