Removal Procedure

    Caution: Ensure that the head restraint retractor assembly is in an unloaded or released position after you remove the head restraint from the rear seat back. Accidental deployment of the head restraint retractor assembly may cause personal injury.

  1. Remove the rear seat head restraint. Refer to Rear Seat Head Restraint Replacement .
  2. Remove the rear seat back release latch. Refer to Rear Seat Back Release Latch Replacement .
  3. Remove the seat back cover and pad. Refer to Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement .

    4. Object Number: 1373781 Size: SH
  4. Remove the 2 bolts (2) that retain the head restraint retractor assembly (1) to the seat back frame.

    5. Object Number: 1373780 Size: SH
  5. Remove the 2 bolts (1) that retain the head restraint retractor assembly (2) to the seat back frame.

    6. Object Number: 1373783 Size: SH
  6. Remove the release cable (3) from the stud (1) on the head restraint retractor assembly.
  7. Remove the release cable (2) from the slot in the head restraint retractor assembly.
  8. Remove the retractor assembly from the seat back frame.

Installation Procedure
  1. Position the head restraint retractor assembly to the seat back.

    2. Object Number: 1373783 Size: SH
  2. Install the release cable (2) by sliding the cable into the slot in the head restraint retractor assembly.

    3. Object Number: 1373780 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the 2 bolts (1) that retain the rear head restraint retractor assembly (2) to the seat back frame.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear head restraint retractor bolts to 7 N·m (61 lb in).

  4. Install the 2 bolts (2) that retain the rear head restraint retractor assembly (1) to the seat back frame.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the rear head restraint retractor bolts to 7 N·m (61 lb in).

  5. Install the seat back cover and pad. Refer to Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement .
  6. Install the rear seat back release latch. Refer to Rear Seat Back Release Latch Replacement .
  7. Install the rear seat head restraint. Refer to Rear Seat Head Restraint Replacement .
