Important: If any module is replaced, the module must be programmed with the regular production
options (RPO) prior to performing the Passlock Learn procedure. The Techline Terminal
automatically selects the RPO codes based on the vehicle identification number (VIN).
- Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BCM
programming:
• | The battery is fully charged. |
• | The ignition switch is in the RUN position. |
• | The data link connector (DLC) is accessible. |
• | All accessories are turned OFF. |
- Follow the service programming system (SPS) instructions on the Techline
Terminal and scan tool to program the BCM.
- If the BCM fails to accept the program, perform the following steps:
• | Inspect all DLC, scan tool and Techline Terminal connections. |
• | Insure that the battery is fully charged. |
• | Verify that the SPS Techline Terminal and scan tool have the latest software
version. |
• | Inspect all BCM connections. |
Passlock Learn Procedures
After the BCM has been replaced and reprogrammed, the powertrain control module
(PCM) must learn the new fuel continue password. Refer to
Programming Theft Deterrent System Components
for the appropriate learn procedure.
Important: After programming, perform the following to avoid future misdiagnosis:
- Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
- Connect the scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
- Retrieve history DTCs from all modules with the scan tool.
- Clear all history DTCs with the scan tool.
