Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 777351  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the park brake cable from the rear brake caliper.

  4. Object Number: 790034  Size: SH
  5. Remove the brake caliper and bracket assembly. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 748573  Size: SH
  7. Remove the rear brake rotor.

  8. Object Number: 790168  Size: SH
  9. Remove the park brake shoe.

  10. Object Number: 790949  Size: SH
  11. Remove the rear drive axle. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Replacement in Rear Drive Axle.

  12. Object Number: 370688  Size: SH
  13. Remove the retaining nuts from the backing plate.
  14. Remove the backing plate from the rear axle housing.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 370688  Size: SH
  1. Install the backing plate to the axle housing flange.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the backing plate nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the backing plate bolts to 68 N·m (48 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear drive axle. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Replacement in Rear Drive Axle.

  6. Object Number: 790168  Size: SH
  7. Install the park brake shoe.

  8. Object Number: 748573  Size: SH
  9. Install the rear brake rotor.

  10. Object Number: 790034  Size: SH
  11. Install the brake caliper and bracket assembly. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement .

  12. Object Number: 777351  Size: SH
  13. Install the park brake cable to the rear brake caliper.
  14. Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment in Park Brake.
  15. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  16. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
