Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle Column Shift

  1. Remove the electronic lock module assembly. Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
  2. Inspect the steering column for accident damage.

  4. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  5. Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.

  6. Remove the automatic transmission shift lock control in the following way:
  7. 4.1. Put the shift lever clevis into the NEUTRAL position.
    4.2. Use a small screwdriver to pry the automatic transmission shift lock control away from the steering column jacket assembly and the cable shift cam assembly.

  8. Remove the 3 flat head tapping screws from the linear shift assembly.
  9. Remove the linear shift assembly from the steering column support assembly.

  10. Remove the inner boot seal (4).
  11. Remove the steering shaft seal (3) from the adapter and bearing assembly (1).
  12. Remove the shaft seal retainer (2) from the adapter and bearing assembly (1).
  13. Remove the adapter and bearing assembly (1) from the steering shaft assembly.

  14. Object Number: 389648  Size: SH
  15. Remove the steering shaft assembly (1) from the steering column support assembly (2) and the steering column jacket assembly (3).

  16. Object Number: 389651  Size: SH
  17. Remove the 4 TORX® head screws (1) from the steering column support assembly (2).
  18. Discard the 4 TORX® head screws (1).
  19. Remove the steering column support assembly (2) from the steering column jacket assembly (3).

Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle Floor Shift

  1. Remove the lock module assembly. Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
  2. Inspect the steering column assembly for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection - Off Vehicle (Column and Floor Shift) .

  4. Remove the 2 pan head screws (1) from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (2).
  5. Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (2).

  6. Object Number: 389642  Size: SH
  7. Remove the inner boot seal (4).
  8. Remove the steering shaft seal (3) from the adapter and bearing assembly (1).
  9. Remove the shaft seal retainer (2) from the adapter and bearing assembly (1).
  10. Remove the adapter and bearing assembly (1) from the steering shaft assembly.

  11. Object Number: 389648  Size: SH
  12. Remove the steering shaft assembly (1) from the steering column support assembly (2) and the steering column jacket assembly (3).

  13. Object Number: 389651  Size: SH
  14. Remove the 4 torx head screws (1) from the steering column support assembly (2).
  15. Discard the 4 torx head screws (1).
  16. Remove the steering column support assembly (2) from the steering column jacket assembly (3).
