Removal Procedure

  1. Open and support the hood.
  2. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  3. Remove the front bumper fascia upper support. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  4. Mark the hood latch to the center support bracket using the grease pencil.
  5. Remove the bolts/screws from the primary and secondary hood latch at the center support bracket.
  6. Important: Do not crimp the hood release cable.

  7. Remove the hood release cable from the primary and secondary hood latch.
  8. Remove the primary and secondary hood latch from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the primary and secondary hood latch to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the hood release cable to the primary and secondary hood latch.
  4. Align the hood latch to the marks upon installation.
  5. Install the bolts/screws to the primary and secondary hood latch at the center support bracket.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts/screws to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the front bumper fascia upper support. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  8. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  9. Adjust the hood. Refer to Hood Latch Adjustment .
  10. Close the hood.
