Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear bumper impact bar. Refer to Rear Bumper Impact Bar Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 3847  Size: SH
  3. Remove the rear bumper impact bar brace assembly bolts.
  4. Remove the hitch bolts and the hitch nuts from the frame rails.
  5. Remove the hitch from the frame rails.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hitch to the frame rails.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the hitch to the frame bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 120 N·m (89 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear bumper impact bar brace assembly bolts through the hitch to the frame.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the hitch and brace assembly brace bolts to 140 N·m (103 lb ft).

  7. Install the rear bumper impact bar. Refer to Rear Bumper Impact Bar Replacement .
