Endgate Handle Replacement Pick-up
Removal Procedure
- Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the pickup box endgate
latch handle bezel.
- Perform the following steps in order to remove
the endgate latch rods from the endgate latch handle:
2.1. | Separate the retaining clip from the lower latch rod by prying
the clip apart at the head of the latch rod. |
2.2. | Slide the lower latch rod from the retaining clip and the handle. |
2.3. | Lift the endgate latch handle in order to gain access to the upper
latch rod retaining clip. |
2.4. | Separate the upper latch rod retaining clip from the upper latch
rod. |
2.5. | Slide the upper latch rod from the retaining clip. |
- Remove the bolts that retain the pickup box endgate
latch handle to the endgate.
- Remove the pickup box endgate latch handle from the endgate.
Installation Procedure
- Install the pickup box endgate latch handle to the endgate.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts
that retain the pickup box endgate latch handle to the endgate.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the upper latch rod to the handle.
- Install the upper latch rod to the retaining clip.
- Install the lower latch rod to the handle.
- Install the lower latch rod to the retaining clip.
- Perform the following steps in order to install
the pickup box endgate latch:
7.2. | Snap the bezel into place. |

Removal Procedure
- Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to
Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Release the liftgate handle rod retainer.
- Remove the bolts that retain the liftgate outside handle to the
liftgate.
- Remove the liftgate outside handle from the liftgate.
Installation Procedure
- Install the liftgate outside handle to the liftgate.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant

- Install the bolts
that retain the liftgate outside handle to the liftgate.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
- Install the liftgate handle rod to the liftgate handle.
- Engage the retainer.
- Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to
