HEADLAMP BOOT LOOSE (RE-SECURE WITH ADHESIVE)

SUBJECT: HEADLAMP BOOT LOOSE (RE-SECURE WITH ADHESIVE)

MODELS: 1998 GMC S/T MODELS 1998 OLDSMOBILE BRAVADA

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE RUBBER BOOT (OR SEAL) THAT ENCOMPASSES THE HEADLAMP IS LOOSE.

CAUSE:

INCONSISTANT APPLICATION OF ADHESIVE.

CORRECTION:

RE-SECURE THE BOOT FOLLOWING THE SERVICE PROCEDURE. DO NOT REPLACE THE HEADLAMP UNLESS THE BOOT CANNOT BE PROPERLY REATTACHED OR IS DAMAGED.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. USING ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL AND A LINT FREE CLOTH, CLEAN THE AREA AROUND AND UNDER THE PORTION OF THE BOOT THAT HAS COME LOOSE. 2. USING RUBBER GLOVES, CAREFULLY APPLY A THIN BEAD OF GM P/N 12345632 INSTANT GEL ADHESIVE TO EITHER THE FACE OF THE LENS OR THE BACK OF THE RUBBER BOOT, DEPENDING ON THE LOCATION OF THE BOND FAILURE. TAKE EXTREME CARE TO ENSURE THAT THE ADHESIVE DOES NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH THE PAINTED PORTION OF THE VEHICLE. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR A SECTION LARGER THAN 1 - 2 INCHES AT A TIME, SHOULD SUCH A GAP EXIST. 3. IMMEDIATELY APPLY FIRM, CONTINUOUS PRESSURE TO THE BOOT AT THE POINT OF THE NEWLY APPLIED ADHESIVE. YOU MUST MAINTAIN THIS PRESSURE FOR A MINIMUM OF 60 SECONDS, WHILE CLEANING OFF ANY EXCESS ADHESIVE WITH A LINT-FREE CLOTH SOAKED IN MINERAL SPIRITS. IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO TURN THE CLOTH FREQUENTLY WHILE DOING THIS.

NOTICE: MINERAL SPIRITS MAY DAMAGE VEHICLE PAINT, AND SHOULD ONLY BE APPLIED USING A LINT FREE CLOTH.
