Important: The accelerator cable must not be kinked or damaged in any way during installation.

Ensure that the mounting surface between the accelerator pedal assembly and the dash panel is free of insulation. The carpet and padding in the pedal and tunnel area must be positioned to lay flat and be free of wrinkles and bunches. Wire, hoses, cables, and other flexible components should not be within 13 mm (0.52 in) of the cable or lever, at any point in their travel.

  1. Place the accelerator pedal assembly over the mounting studs and onto the mounting surface.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the accelerator pedal mounting nuts.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the accelerator pedal mounting nuts to 9 N·m (84 lb in).
