if replacing the exhaust manifold.
- Clean all sealing surfaces. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Cleaning and Inspection
.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the heat
shield and bolts to the exhaust manifold, if removed.
Tighten
Tighten the heat shield bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Install the exhaust manifold. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Installation
.
- Install the oxygen sensor, if removed. Refer to
Oxygen Sensor Replacement
in Engine Controls 2.2L or
Oxygen Sensor Replacement
in Engine Controls 2.2L (L43).
- Connect the oxygen sensor electrical connector (LN2 engine only).
- Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to
Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement
.
- Install the power steering
pump.
6.1. | Loosely install the power steering pump to accessory mounting
bracket three bolts. |
6.2. | Loosely install the two nuts holding the power steering pump bracket
to the cylinder head studs. |
6.3. | Loosely install the power steering pump lower bracket bolt. |
- Tighten the fasteners in the following sequence:
Tighten
- Tighten the accessory mounting bracket three bolts to 30 N·m
(22 lb ft).
- Tighten the cylinder head stud two nuts to 50 N·m
(37 lb ft).
- Tighten the lower bracket bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the air conditioning compressor, if equipped. Refer to
Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement
in
Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement
in Engine Exhaust.
- Install the drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to
Fan Shroud Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to
Battery Replacement
