Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1236 Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the propeller shaft from the vehicle. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
  3. Remove the center bearing using the following steps:
    4. 3.1. Stand the propeller shaft on end in a press with the splined end of shaft pointing up.
    3.2. Support the center bearing by press bars.
    3.3. Press the propeller shaft down on the splined end till the center bearing assembly is off the propeller shaft.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 606401 Size: SH
  1. Install the center bearing assembly  and retainer (1) and retaining ring onto the propeller shaft by pressing the center bearing onto the shaft using the press.
  2. Ensure that the center bearing is fully seated on the propeller shaft.

    3. Object Number: 1236 Size: SH
  3. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
  4. Lower vehicle and test drive.
