Inspect the tape player for obstruction through the tape door.

Are there any obstructions present?

    Important: Incorrect removal of obstructions may damage the tape player.

  1. Remove the obstruction.
  2. Inspect and clean all of the moving parts and the tape head.
  3. Insert the diagnostic test tape from the J 39916-A Audio Diagnostic Kit.

Does the test tape operate correctly?

Service the radio/remote audio player. Refer to Radio Replacement or Remote Tape Player Replacement .
