Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 281993 Size: SH

Important: Note the orientation of the EGR valve at the BASE before removing. Do not use the electrical connector as an indication of valve orientation. It is possible to install this EGR valve backwards. An EGR valve installed backwards may cause a rough idle and set DTCs.

  1. Disconnect the EGR valve electrical connector.

  2. Object Number: 22075 Size: SH
  3. Remove the EGR valve retaining bolts.

  4. Object Number: 22078 Size: SH
  5. Remove the EGR valve and gasket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean any remaining gasket material from the EGR mounting surface.

  2. Object Number: 22078 Size: SH

Important: Ensure the EGR valve is oriented in the proper direction.

  3. Place the EGR gasket between the EGR valve and the intake manifold EGR mounting location.

  4. Object Number: 22075 Size: SH

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Insert the retaining bolts through the EGR valve and gasket into the mounting holes.
  6. Tighten
First tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in), then tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
