Front Seat Adjuster Replacement Manual

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Refer to Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement or Bench Seat Replacement .
  2. Remove the adjuster return spring.

  3. Object Number: 609147  Size: SH
  4. Remove the seat belt buckle from the seat.

  5. Object Number: 896938  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the seat belt electrical pigtail (3) under the seat.
  7. Remove the seat back recliner handle. Refer to Seat Back Recliner Handle Replacement .
  8. Remove the lumbar support knob. Refer to Lumbar Support Knob Replacement .

  10. Remove the J-strips (1, 2) from to seat cushion frame.

  11. Object Number: 896935  Size: SH
  12. Remove the seat back recliner assembly mounting bolts (1).
  13. Remove the seat back recliner assembly.

  14. Object Number: 896933  Size: SH
  15. Pull the seat cover and cushion (1) up to expose the 4 seat frame mounting nuts (2).
  16. Remove the seat frame mounting nuts (2).
  17. Remove the seat adjuster assembly from the seat.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 896933  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the seat adjuster assembly to the seat cushion frame with 4 nuts (2).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the seat cushion frame nuts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the seat back recliner assembly to the seat adjuster with 2 bolts (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the seat back recliner assembly bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Pull the seat cushion pad and cover back into position on the seat cushion frame.

  6. Object Number: 896930  Size: SH
  7. Install the J-strips (1, 2) to the seat cushion frame.
  8. Install the adjuster return spring to the seat frame.
  9. Install the seat back recliner handle. Refer to Seat Back Recliner Handle Replacement .
  10. Install the lumbar support knob. Refer to Lumbar Support Knob Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 609147  Size: SH
  12. Install the seat belt buckle to the seat.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the seat belt buckle bolt to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).

  14. Connect the seat belt electrical pigtail (3) under the seat.
  15. Install the seat to the vehicle. Refer to Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement or Bench Seat Replacement .

Front Seat Adjuster Replacement Power w/ Motor Assembly

Removal Procedure

  1. Adjust the seat to the full upward front and rear position.
  2. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement .
  3. Remove the lumbar switch from the seat. Refer to Lumbar Switch Replacement .
  4. Remove the power seat switch from the seat. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .

  6. Remove the seat belt buckle from the seat.

  7. Object Number: 298915  Size: SH
  8. Separate the J-strips from the seat bottom frame.
  9. Pull the seat cover and pad up to expose the seat bottom frame.
  10. Disconnect the electrical connectors as necessary.
  11. Remove the bolts securing the seat back assembly to the seat adjuster assembly.
  12. Remove the seat back assembly.

  14. Remove the 4 nuts securing the seat bottom frame to the seat adjuster assembly.
  15. Remove the seat adjuster assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 609144  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   1. Install the seat adjuster assembly to the seat bottom frame with 4 nuts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the seat back assembly to the seat adjuster assembly with four bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Connect the electrical connectors.
  6. Pull the seat pad and seat cover back down on the seat bottom frame.

  8. Engage the J-strips to the seat bottom frame.

  9. Object Number: 609147  Size: SH
  10. Install the seat belt buckle to the seat.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).

  12. Install the lumbar switch to the seat. Refer to Lumbar Switch Replacement .
  13. Install the power seat switch to the seat. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .
  14. Install the seat to the vehicle. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement .
  15. If the vehicle is equipped with memory seats, calibrate the seat. Refer to Memory Seat Calibration .
