The pickup box endgate is hinged at the base of the endgate opening. The endgate latch handle activates the latching mechanism at the base of the endgate opening. The endgate latch handle is at the center of the endgate.
Two cables are attached to the pickup box and the endgate. The cables support the endgate in the open position.
The utility vehicle endgate consists of the following components:
• | An endgate window, hinged at the top of the endgate frame opening. |
• | An endgate, hinged at the base of the endgate frame opening. |
Separate latch mechanisms within the endgate lock the endgate and the endgate window.
Two gas filled struts support the endgate window in the open position. The struts control the rate of opening.
Two cables, which are attached to the body and the endgate, support the endgate in the open position. A torsion bar counterbalances the weight of the endgate. On some utilities, the endgate window latch assembly mechanism is operated electrically. You may open the endgate manually. Refer to Manual Override Description - End Gate if the following conditions exist:
• | Loss of battery power |
• | Interrupted endgate electrical circuit |
The utility vehicle liftgate consists of the following components:
• | A liftgate |
• | A liftgate window |
Both the liftgate and the liftgate window share the following components:
• | A common hinge location at the top of the liftgate frame opening |
• | Separate latch mechanisms within the liftgate, used for locking |
On some utilities, the liftgate window latch assembly mechanism is operated electrically. Two gas filled struts support the liftgate window in the open position. You may open the endgate manually. Refer to Manual Override Description - End Gate if the following conditions exist:
• | Loss of battery power |
• | Interrupted liftgate electrical circuit |
