Important: The motor/encoder gasket does not have to be replaced if the motor/encoder is being removed from the transfer case for other service procedures. Replace the motor/encoder gasket only if damaged. If the motor/encoder is being replaced, a new gasket will come with the replacement motor/encoder.
Important: Make sure that the motor/encoder aligns with the detent on the transfer case.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Important: Before installing the motor/encoder mounting bolts, make sure that the motor/encoder is flat against the transfer case.
Tighten
Tighten the transfer case motor/encoder mounting bolts to 20 N·m
(15 lb ft).
