Removal Procedure
  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Remove the master cylinder away from the vacuum booster. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
  3. Support the master cylinder.

    4. Object Number: 346150 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the check valve from the vacuum booster.
  5. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

    6. Object Number: 344875 Size: SH
  6. Remove the pushrod retainer from the brake pedal pin.

    7. Object Number: 344886 Size: SH
  7. Remove the stoplamp switch and the pushrod from the brake pedal pin.
  8. Remove the steering column support bracket. Refer to Steering Column Bracket Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

    9. Object Number: 911 Size: SH
  9. Remove the vacuum booster mounting nuts.
  10. Remove the vacuum booster assembly.
  11. Remove the gasket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 911 Size: SH
  1. Install the vacuum booster assembly and the gasket.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the vacuum booster mounting nuts on the vacuum booster.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the vacuum booster mounting nuts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  3. Install the steering column support bracket. Refer to Steering Column Bracket Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

    4. Object Number: 344886 Size: SH
  4. Install the stoplamp switch and the pushrod to the brake pedal pin.

    5. Object Number: 344875 Size: SH
  5. Install the pushrod retainer to the brake pedal pin. The retainer will snap into place.
  6. Install the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

    7. Object Number: 346150 Size: SH
  7. Install the check valve to the vacuum booster.
  8. Install the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
