Diagnostic Aids

Clutch grabbing occurs when the clutch is disengaged and the vehicle lurches or shudders. The engine mounts may be loose or damaged. Remove the transmission and inspect the pressure plate for being burned or smeared resin from the clutch disc, and for oil on the pressure plate. Also inspect for a worn or damaged release bearing and inspect the splines on the transmission main drive gear.
