Power Steering Pump Flow Control Valve Replacement - Off Vehicle P Series

Disassembly Procedure


    Object Number: 447978  Size: SH
  1. Drain the power steering fluid from the power steering pump.
  2. Remove the connector and fitting assembly (4).
  3. Remove the O-ring seal (3).

  4. Object Number: 447980  Size: SH
  5. Remove the control valve assembly (3) and the flow control spring (2) from the pump housing assembly (1).

Assembly Procedure


    Object Number: 447980  Size: SH
  1. Install the flow control spring (2) to the pump housing assembly (1).
  2. Install the control valve assembly (3) to the flow control spring (2).

  3. Object Number: 447978  Size: SH
  4. Install the O-ring seal (3) to the connector and fitting assembly (4).
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the connector and fitting assembly (4) to the pump housing (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the connector and fitting assembly (4) to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).

Disassembly Procedure


    Object Number: 448006  Size: SH
  1. Remove the connector and fitting assembly (4).
  2. Remove the O-ring seal (3).

  3. Object Number: 448001  Size: SH
  4. Remove the control valve assembly (3) and the flow control spring (2) from the pump housing assembly (1).

Assembly Procedure


    Object Number: 448001  Size: SH
  1. Install the flow control spring (2) to the pump housing assembly (1).
  2. Install the control valve assembly (3) to the flow control spring (2).

  3. Object Number: 448006  Size: SH
  4. Lubricate the O-ring seal (3) with power steering fluid.
  5. Install the O-ring seal (3).
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the connector and fitting assembly (3) to the pump housing (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the connector and fitting assembly (3) to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).
