Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen
Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the A/C pressure switch (4.3L only).
- Remove the accumulator (2)
to evaporator nut.
- Remove the compressor hose assembly from the accumulator.
- Remove the O-ring seals and discard.
- Remove the accumulator
clamp bolt.
- Remove the accumulator.
Installation Procedure
- Install the accumulator
into the accumulator clamp.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the accumulator clamp bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (88 lb in).
- Install the A/C low pressure switch.
- Install new O-ring seals.
Refer to
O-Ring Replacement
in Heating ,Ventilation and
Air Conditioning.
- Connect the compressor hose assembly to the accumulator (2).
Tighten
Tighten the compressor suction hose to accumulator retaining nut to
48 N·m (35 lb in).
- Install the accumulator to evaporator retaining nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the A/C pressure switch (4.3L
only).
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings components using the J 39400-A
.
