Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 141856  Size: SH
  3. Remove the front dampener nut from the frame mount bracket.
  4. Remove the rear dampener bolt and the nut from the axle mount bracket.
  5. Remove the axle vibration dampener.

  6. Object Number: 141859  Size: SH
  7. Remove the dampener frame mount bracket (if necessary).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the dampener frame mount bracket to the frame (if removed).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts and the nuts.
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the bolts to 46 N·m (34 lb ft).
        • Tighten the nuts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
  5. Install the axle vibration dampener.
  6. Install the rear dampener bolt and nut to the axle mount bracket.
  7. Tighten

        • Tighten the bolt to 86 N·m (63 lb ft).
        • Tighten the nut to 65 N·m (48 lb ft).
  8. Install the front dampener nut to the frame mount bracket.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
