Tie rod adjuster parts often rust in service. Discard the nuts and the bolts if the torque required to remove the nut from the bolt exceeds 9 N·m (80 lb in) after breakaway.
Apply penetrating oil between the clamp and the tube. Rotate the clamps until the clamps move freely. Install new bolts and nuts with the correct part number if needed.
Change the length of the tie rods in order to increase or decrease toe-in. Use the threaded sleeve to change the length of the tie rods. When the tie rods are mounted ahead of the steering knuckle, the rods must be decreased in length to increase toe or increased in length to decrease toe.
Perform the following steps to make front toe adjustments:
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Tighten the tie rod adjuster clamp bolts to 21 N·m (16 lb ft).
