96-04 Chevrolet and GMC Classic S/T 2 Door Utility and Ext-cab P/U Quarter Glass Seal Torn - kw door molding side seal tear weatherstrip

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

The molding/weather strip between the rear quarter glass and the front door may tear or deform. The molding is too far rearward and can catch on the outside of the door and tear or deform..

The only way to get the molding/weather strip is to order the quarter glass assembly. Follow these procedures to repair this condition..

1. Install a new quarter glass assembly adding spacers (approximately 3/16 of an inch) to move the front edge of the seal further under the rear edge of the door. The spacers will go between the quarter glass assembly and the truck body.
2. If necessary adjust the door to reduce force applied to the seal.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
