The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Repeat SIR light on with a current DTC B1000 after replacing the SDM.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Follow the normal eSI Diagnostics for the DTC. If the SDM is replaced, and the DTC B1000 sets current in the new SDM perform the following checks below.
- Prior to doing any of the following steps, refer to eSI "Disabling the SIR System"
- Make sure to disable the SIR system per eSI prior to disconnecting any connectors or checking any wires.
- Check the following circuits for a short to ground, the Front Discriminating sensor circuits, the Steering wheel Inflator Module circuits, and the IP Inflator Module circuits.
- If a wire is found to be shorted to ground, refer to eSI "SIR/SRS Wiring Repairs" for instructions on how to repair the wires for the SIR/SRS system.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
