Circuit Description

The Parking Assist System informs the driver of the system fault by warning indicator and the alarm.

    • The fault recognition by warning indicator--When the ignition switch is first turned ON, the ignition voltage is supplied from fuse F18 in I/P fuse block to find the parking assist system (PAS) control module at input terminal 1. The PAS control module respond by illuminating the warning indicator on the cluster for 4 seconds and then turning it off while the control module performs self-test on the PAS. At this time if the control module finds the malfunction in the system, the control module will continue to illuminate the warning indicator until the malfunction is removed.
    • The fault recognition by the alarm--When ignition switch is being ON, if the gear select lever is moved into "R", the PAS control module perform the self-test and ring the alarm. If system fault do not exist, control module ring the alarm just 1 time for approximately 0.3 second. If system fault exist, control module ring the alarm 3 times for approximately 1.5 seconds and that cycle is repeated 5 times.

Diagnostic Aids

If the warning indicator is illuminated by the malfunction, perform the On-Board Diagnostic Features error check before performing the parking assist system malfunction check.
