DTC Descriptor

DTC P2299 5A: Brake Pedal Position-Accelerator Pedal Position Correlation Plausibility Failure

Circuit/System Description

This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that the accelerator pedal, and the brake pedal were actuated simultaneously, or the accelerator pedal was actuated before the brake.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The ignition is ON.
    • The DTC runs continuously once the above condition is met.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The engine control module (ECM) detects that the accelerator pedal, and the brake were actuated simultaneously, or the accelerator pedal was actuated before the brake.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P2299 is a Type B DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P2299 is a Type B DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON, observe the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information with a scan tool. Verify that DTCs P2120, P2125, or P2138 are not set.
  2. If any of the DTCs are set, refer to DTC P2120, P2125, or P2138 for further diagnosis.
  3. Verify correct brake lamp operation.
  4. If the brake lamps do not operate correctly refer to Stop Lamps Inoperative for further diagnosis.
  5. DTC P2299 is an informational DTC. If there are other Engine Controls DTCs, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle for further diagnosis.
