Models:2003-2005 Chevrolet Kodiak C4500-C8500 Series

During high humidity conditions and high ambient temperatures, while operating the air conditioning, condensation accumulates in the evaporator case. The evaporator case drain is located near the engine wiring harness and connector C100.

Under certain circumstances, the water that drains from the evaporator case may contact and intrude into the harness connectors. Over time, this may cause corrosion of the terminals.

A water drain diverter, P/N 15229723, has been developed to channel the water away from the harness area. Use the following procedure to install this water diverter. The diverter snaps onto the bottom of the evaporator case under the drain hole.

  1. Open the hood.
  2. For easier access, remove the passenger side wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement (SI Document ID# 885522).

  3. Object Number: 1717918 Size: MF
  4. Place the diverter under the evaporator housing drain hole. Slide the diverter back and snap into position. The grooves of the diverter fit around the housing bracket as shown above.
  5. Install the passenger side wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement (SI Document ID# 885522).
  6. Close the hood.
