Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system if equipped. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  3. Remove the tilt lever if equipped. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement .

    4. Object Number: 415298 Size: SH
  4. Remove the lower steering column trim cover screws (1).

    5. Object Number: 328807 Size: SH
  5. Tilt the lower steering column trim cover down.
  6. Slide the lower steering column trim cover backward in order to disengage the locking tabs.
  7. Remove the lower steering column trim cover from the upper steering column trim cover.

    8. Object Number: 368494 Size: SH
  8. Remove the steering column trim cover protector (1) from the lower steering column trim cover (2).

    9. Object Number: 415299 Size: SH
  9. Remove the upper steering column trim cover screws (1).
  10. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  11. Remove the upper steering column trim cover (2) from the steering column.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 415299 Size: SH
  1. Install the upper steering column trim cover (2) onto the steering column.
  2. Install the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement .

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the upper steering column trim cover screw (1).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  4. Install the lower steering column trim cover protector (1) to the lower steering column trim cover (2).

    5. Object Number: 328807 Size: SH

    Important: The shift lever seal must be seated in the steering column trim covers.

  5. Install the lower steering column trim cover to the upper steering column trim cover.
  6. Match the tab slots on the lower steering column trim cover with the locking tabs on the upper steering column trim cover.
  7. Tilt the lower steering column trim cover up.

    8. Object Number: 415298 Size: SH
  8. Install the lower steering column trim cover screws (1).

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  9. Install the tilt lever if equipped. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement .
  10. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  11. Enable the SIR system if equipped. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
