Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner layer. Refer to
Air Cleaner Replacement
.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the air cleaner and the turbocharger.
- Cover the turbocharger opening with tape.
- Loosen both hose clamps for the charged
air cooler outlet duct to intake manifold tube hose.
Important: Do not use a screwdriver or other prying tool to remove the hose. The hose
can be damaged.
- Using a twisting motion remove the hose from the intake manifold tube and
the pipe.
- Cover the opening on the pipe and the intake manifold tube with tape.
- Remove the bolt retaining the outlet heater hose to the generator mounting
bracket.
- Remove the fuel filter mounting bolts. Refer to
Fuel Filter Replacement
.
- Remove the fuel injection control module. Refer to
Fuel Injector Control Module Replacement
.
- Position the outlet heater hose out of the way.
- Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.
- Remove the fuel injector line retainers.
- Remove the fuel injector lines.
Installation Procedure
- Install the fuel injector lines.
- Install the fuel injector line retainers.
- Install the EGR valve.
- Position the outlet heater hose.
- Install the fuel filter mounting bolts. Refer to
Fuel Filter Replacement
.
- Install the fuel injection control module. Refer to
Fuel Injector Control Module Replacement
.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolt retaining the heater hose bracket to the generator bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the heater hose bracket bolt to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Remove the tape from the charged air cooler
outlet duct to charge air cooler pipe opening and the intake manifold tube opening.
- Position the hose on the pipe and the intake manifold tube.
The hose is marked ENG for the intake manifold tube end and DUCT for the pipe
end.
- Install the clamps and position as shown in order to allow the proper
clearances.
Tighten
Tighten the hose clamps to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct to the air cleaner.
- Install the charged air cooler inlet duct to the turbocharger.
- Align the duct to the turbocharger as shown.
- Position the hose clamps.
Tighten
Tighten the charged air cooler inlet duct clamps to 6 N·m (53 lb ft).
- Install the air cleaner layer. Refer to
Air Cleaner Replacement
