Removal Procedure
Important: It is necessary to record the remaining engine
oil life. If the replacement module is not programed with the remaining engine oil
life, the engine oil life will default to 100 percent. If the replacement module
is not programmed with the remaining engine oil life, the engine oil will need to
be changed at 5 000 km (3,000 mi) from the last engine oil change.
- Using a scan tool, retrieve the percentage of remaining engine oil. Record the
remaining engine oil life.
- Open the hood.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Disconnect wiring harness connectors at the engine control module
(ECM).
- Pull back the ECM bracket tabs and remove the ECM.
- If the ECM bracket requires removal, perform the following:
6.1. | Remove accumulator bottle bracket retaining nuts and position bottle out
of the way. |
6.2. | Remove
the 2 ECM bracket bolts and the ECM bracket with the ECM from the multi-use
