Removal Procedure

    Important: After removing the charged air cooler duct, cover the turbocharger opening with tape in order to prevent entry of objects.

  1. Remove the air cleaner . Refer to Air Cleaner Replacement .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  4. Remove the charged air cooler inlet pipe from the turbocharger. Refer to Charged Air Cooler Hoses/Pipes Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 6.6L (LLY).
  5. Remove the fuel filter. Refer to Fuel Filter Replacement .

  7. Remove the battery cable to generator nut.
  8. If equipped, remove the battery cable to auxiliary generator nut.

  10. Disconnect the fuel lines. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  11. Remove the fuel line bracket nut.
  12. Remove the fuel line bracket from the stud.

  14. Disconnect the engine harness main connectors. Lift up on the latch in order to disconnect the connectors.

  16. Remove the engine harness main electrical connectors screws.

  18. Disconnect the barometric sensor electrical connector.
  19. Remove the engine harness main connector bracket bolts.
  20. Remove the water outlet tube. Refer to Water Outlet Tube Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  21. Remove the auxiliary generator, if equipped. Refer to Auxiliary Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  23. Disconnect the glow plug controller electrical connectors.

  25. Reposition the left positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose clamp.
  26. Disconnect the left PCV hose.

  28. Remove the left PCV pipe bolt.
  29. Remove the left PCV pipe.

  30. Object Number: 1335608  Size: SH
  31. Remove the fuel injector pipes.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1335608  Size: SH
  1. Install the fuel injector pipes.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the fittings to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  3. Install the left PCV pipe.
  4. Install the left PCV pipe bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  6. Connect the left PCV hose.
  7. Position the left PCV hose clamp.

  8. Object Number: 1335531  Size: SH
  9. Connect the glow plug controller electrical connectors.
  10. Install the auxiliary generator, if equipped. Refer to Auxiliary Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  11. Install the water outlet tube. Refer to Water Outlet Tube Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  13. Install the engine harness main connector bracket bolts.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).

  15. Connect the barometric sensor electrical connector.

  16. Object Number: 1334916  Size: SH
  17. Install the engine harness main electrical connectors screws.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  19. Connect the engine harness main connectors.

  20. Object Number: 1378748  Size: SH
  21. Install the fuel line bracket from the stud.
  22. Install the fuel line bracket nut.
  23. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).

  24. Connect the fuel lines. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  25. Object Number: 1395836  Size: SH
  26. Position the generator positive cable.
  27. Install the generator positive cable in the clip on the engine front cover.
  28. Install the generator positive cable and nut to the generator.
  29. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  30. Install the battery positive cable junction block bracket and bolt to the power steering bracket.
  31. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  32. Remove the tape from the turbocharger openings.
  33. Important: Lubricate the end of the duct prior to installation.

  34. Install the charged air cooler inlet pipe to the turbocharger. Refer to Charged Air Cooler Hoses/Pipes Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 6.6L (LLY).
  35. Install the fuel filter. Refer to Fuel Filter Replacement .
  36. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Replacement .
  37. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  38. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  39. Prime the fuel system. Refer to Fuel System Priming .
  40. Start the engine. If the engine stalls, repeat the above step.
  41. Once the engine starts, inspect for fuel leaks.
