Removal Procedure
- Set the parking brake.
- Block the wheels.
- Tilt the cab forward.
- Place a suitable container under the master cylinder in order to catch the fluid.
- Remove the hydraulic pipes from the master cylinder.
- Cap or plug the hydraulic pipes.
- Remove the low fluid level sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the master cylinder bracket mounting bolts.
- Remove the master cylinder mounting nuts.
- Remove the master cylinder mounting bracket.
- Remove the master cylinder.
Installation Procedure
Important: Refer to
Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding
before installing the master cylinder.
- Install the master cylinder.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the mounting nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the mounting nuts to 36 N·m (27 lb ft).
- Install the master cylinder mounting bracket.
- Install the bracket mounting bolts.
- Install the master cylinder mounting nuts.
- Connect the low fluid level sensor connector.
- Remove the plugs or caps from the hydraulic pipes.
- Install the hydraulic pipes to the master cylinder.
- Bleed the brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
Caution: After releasing the parking brake, be sure the vehicle will not roll
forward or backwards when removing the wheel blocks. If the vehicle is not
in gear, the vehicle may move possibly causing personal injury.
- Remove the wheel blocks.
- Release the parking brake.
