Fuel Tank Drain Hose
Important: Purge any residual fuel in
J 45004
into an approved container prior to use.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Remove the fuel fill cap.
- If the vehicle is equipped with a drain plug, perform steps 4-11.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Position a suitable container under the drain plug.
- Remove the fuel tank drain plug.
- Clean the drain plug threads of all grease, oil, and sealing compounds.
- Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480).
- Remove the fuel from the fuel tank.
- Install the fuel tank drain plug.
Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in the Preface section.
- Tighten the drain plug.
Tighten
Tighten the drain plug to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).
- If the vehicle is not equipped with a drain plug perform steps 11-13.
- Insert the
J 45004
hose into the tank.
- Attach the
J 45004
hose to the hose used with the hand or air operated pump devise.
- Using a hand or air operated pump drain as much fuel from the tank as possible.
