Parking Brake Support Replacement 9 x 3

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

1. Remove the drum (1). Refer to Propeller Shaft Parking Brake Drum Replacement .
2. Remove the linings (4). Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement .
3. Remove the bolts (8).
4. Remove the support plate (2).
5. Inspect the support plate for damage or distortion.
6. Replace the support plate, if necessary.
7. Inspect the support plate for corrosion.
8. Remove corrosion from the shoe contact surfaces with a fine emery cloth.

1. Install the support plate (2).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the bolts (8).

Tighten
Tighten the park brake support bolts to 121 N·m (89 lb ft).

3. Install the linings (4). Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement .
4. Install the drum (1). Refer to Propeller Shaft Parking Brake Drum Replacement .

Parking Brake Support Replacement 12 x 3

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

1. Remove the drum (12). Refer to Propeller Shaft Parking Brake Drum Replacement .
2. Remove the linings (1). Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement .
3. Remove the bolts (10).
4. Remove the support plate (7).
5. Inspect the support plate for damage or distortion.
6. Replace the support plate, if necessary.
7. Inspect the support plate for corrosion.
8. Remove corrosion from the shoe contact surfaces with a fine emery cloth.

1. Install the support plate (7).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the bolts (9).

Tighten
Tighten the park brake support bolts to 121 N·m (89 lb ft).

3. Install the linings (1). Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement .
4. Install the drum (12). Refer to Propeller Shaft Parking Brake Drum Replacement .
