Removal Procedure
- Remove the pitman arm. Refer to
Pitman Arm Replacement

- Place a pan underneath the steering gear to catch the oil.
- Use a seal puller or a pry tool in order to remove the dust seal (5).
- Remove the stop ring (4) and the rear pitman shaft seal plug (3).
- Inspect the pitman shaft surfaces for roughness or pitting. Replace the shaft if the shaft is pitted.
- Inspect the housing for any burrs. Remove the burrs before installing the new seal.
- Clean the pitman shaft and the seal areas in clean solvent.
Installation Procedure
- Lubricate the new seals with power steering fluid.
- Use a suitable pipe as a driver in order to install the seals on the pitman shaft.
- Install the stop ring (4) and the rear pitman shaft seal plug (3).
- Install the dust seal (5).
- Install the pitman arm. Refer to

- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
