Removal Procedure

  1. Set the parking brake.
  2. Block the wheels.
  3. Place a suitable container under the master cylinder in order to catch the fluid.

  4. Object Number: 1507014  Size: SH
  5. Remove the hydraulic pipes from the master cylinder.
  6. Cap or plug the hydraulic pipes.
  7. Remove the low fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  8. Remove the low fluid level sensor. Refer to Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement .

  9. Object Number: 1507017  Size: SH
  10. Remove the master cylinder mounting nuts.
  11. Remove the master cylinder.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1507017  Size: SH

    Important: Refer to Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding before installing the master cylinder.

  1. Install the master cylinder.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the mounting nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the low fluid level sensor. Refer to Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement .
  6. Connect the low fluid level sensor connector.

  7. Object Number: 1507014  Size: SH
  8. Remove the plugs or caps from the hydraulic pipes.
  9. Install the hydraulic pipes to the master cylinder.
  10. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  11. Caution: After releasing the parking brake, be sure the vehicle will not roll forward or backwards when removing the wheel blocks. If the vehicle is not in gear, the vehicle may move possibly causing personal injury.

  12. Remove the wheel blocks.
  13. Release the parking brake.
